Biography

Glaswegian Steven began his career with Glasgow Rangers as an attacking left-sided midfield player but whilst progressing through the club's youth ranks he switched to left back. He represented Scotland at Under-19 level as an 18-year-old and was part of the Gers' squad which played pre-season friendlies at the Rockingham Triangle in 2007 and 2008.
In December, 2008 he joined Queen of the South on loan when aged 19 and made his senior debut against Livingstone. After returning to Ibrox he was on the move again in March, 2009 when he signed for St Johnstone on loan.
In August, 2009 Steven and fellow Rangers reserve player Ross Perry were loaned out to Oxford United but in early December, 2009 Steven suffered a knee injury which was to sideline him for three months and at the end of the 2009/10 season he was one of seven youth team products to be released by Rangers.
Oxford moved quickly to secure Steven on a permanent contract and within days he had signed for them. After making 25 first team appearances he joined Cambridge United on loan in August, 2011 and played 3 times for them before returning to Oxford. Steven was unable to establish a regular place in the Oxford first team, however, and after making just a further 4 appearances he left the club in January, 2012.
Two months later Steven signed for AFC Telford United but after a brief spell with the Bucks he joined Bedford Town ahead of the 2012/13 season.
In June, 2013 he was announced as one of six new signings by Kettering Town and was an ever-present in their 51 matches in 2013/14 - ending the season as club captain. He won the club's Player of the Year and Vice-Presidents Player of the Year awards and during the summer of 2014 he took on a coaching role at the new Kettering Town Academy.
After making well over 100 appearances for the Poppies Steven joined Corby Town as player/coach in December, 2016 and the following month also took over the running of the Steelmen's academy side. Although his playing appearances were restricted by injury he became an increasingly influential figure off the pitch. Steven ended 2016/17 as caretaker manager of the first team and in May, 2017 was appointed the club's Director of Football.
