AYLESBURY FC 1 CORBY TOWN 4

Crawford's corner being headed in by the unchallenged Kennedy.

Corby Town had the ball in the net in the second minute and in injury time at the end of the game and dominated possession throughout to gain a thoroughly convincing victory. The Steelmen went into the game with several players recovering from illness but did have the boost of having Joel Carta back in the starting XI.
With ninety seconds on the clock Jordan Francis crossed from the left and Jordon Crawford fired the ball into the net from close range - only for a flag waving assistant to chalk it off for offside.
Francis was causing the Aylesbury defence all kinds of problems on the flank and his next centre was headed powerfully goalwards by Carta but Nick Bennion in the home goal made an outstanding point blank save.
Crawford was proving equally effective down the right and after he had blasted a shot high over the bar himself he set up Elliot Sandy for a shot which Bennion, who had played for Corby under Graham Drury, saved with his feet. The rebound eventually fell to Greg Ling who was chopped down by Sam Odusoga for an obvious penalty. Obvious, that is, to everyone apart from referee Mr Jordan Cushen who decided to wave play on.
Chances continued to come and go as Sandy set up Carta three times for efforts which were too weak to trouble the in-form Bennion. A Crawford centre was then deflected wide by Derek Feyi and although Connor Kennedy got a firm connection to Sam Warburton's corner his header sailed harmlessly over the bar.
Set piece expert Warburton flated a free kick into the Aylesbury box and Sandy headed against the bar - although he was being flagged offside anyway.
Just as it appeared that the opening half was going to end goalless the Steelmen did break the deadlock in the final seconds. A long ball by Carta found Sandy and he outpaced Feyi before slipping his shot past Bennion.
Sandy did get the ball in the net again shortly after the interval but an offside decision once more ruled it out. Bennion then proved that he was human by failing to gather a high centre by Francis's goalbound header was cleared.
Kennedy hooked a shot over the bar and Crawford saw an effort blocked by the legs of the goalkeeper before the pair combined to double Corby's lead - Crawford's corner being headed in by the unchallenged Kennedy.
Within minutes the ball was in the back of the net again as Crawford played a pass inside to Sandy and he tucked his shot just inside the post.
The hosts then enjoyed a few minutes in attack as Ty Deacon reduced the arrears with a good shot n the 88th minute and Harry Scott flashed an effort across the face of the Corby goal.
The ball was soon back up the other end, however, and in injury time Crawford again provided the assist from which Sandy completed his hat trick.
