ROTHWELL CORINTHIANS UNDER 18s 1 CORBY TOWN UNDER 18s 4

Corby's top scorer stroked home his sixth goal of the season.

Corby Town's Under 18s went to the top of the Northants Senior Youth League East following this convincing victory. The Steelboys have an identical record to second placed Kettering Town of six wins, three draws and two defeats from their eleven league fixtures but have a superior goal difference. Corby Kingswood are third, three points behind the leaders but, crucially, have two games in hand.
Corby were on top from the start at Rothwell with Hilton Arthur shooting into the side netting following a good run down the left by Sidik Atcha inside the opening five minutes. A foul on Atcha then produced a free kick on the edge of the penalty area by skipper Reece Day's shot was comfortably saved by the home goalkeeper.
The Rothwell 'keeper was to have a busy evening and his next save denied Javern Hines a goal. Next to have a pot at goal was Connor Fury but his effort went wide.
After twenty minutes the 'keeper saved well from Damien Osoimoejiokhian but the loose ball fell to Arthur inside the six yard box and Corby's top scorer stroked home his sixth goal of the season.
The Steelboys continued to pepper the Corinthians goal with Atcha shooting wide, Osoimoejiokhian having an effort saved and a Ben McClafferty header being pushed over the bar. Arthur then fired an effort off target on the stroke of half time.
Within seconds of the restart Corby did have their second goal, Atcha and Cole McWilliam opening up the Rothwell defence down the right and Osoimoejiaokhian completing the job with a straight forward finish.
The Rothwell 'keeper then made a diving save from Atcha before a foul on the busy Osoimoejiokhian produced a penalty which McClafferty converted.
The hosts never stopped battling and were rewarded with a goal following a free kick but Corby had the final word as Fury ended a jinking run with a centre which was fumbled by the 'keeper to leave Hines with a simple close range finish (see photo above).
