YAXLEY 0 CORBY TOWN 4

Elliot Sandy ran on to finish with his usual aplomb.

3G or not 3G. That was the question that Corby Town needed to answer at Yaxley on New Years Day. The Steelmen had previously had mixed results on this type of artificial surface. But this emphatic victory proved that it should hold no fears for them in the future.
Yaxley played the ball around neatly in the opening minutes as Corby, quite literally, found their feet. But once the Steelmen had gone in front there was never any doubt about the destination of the three points.
The opening goal was simplicity itself. A long ball forward was flicked on by Elliot Sandy to Jordon Crawford and he buried his angled shot into the bottom corner of the net.
The home side would have been happy just to still be in the game at half time. But two minutes after the interval it was as good as over. A Sam Warburton corner was met by Gary Mulligan and the Corby captain's powerful header gave James Blake in the Yaxley goal no chance.
The 18-year-old goalkeeper was again left exposed when Dalton Bettles completely missed a long ball forward by Mulligan and Elliot Sandy ran on to finish with his usual aplomb.
The scoring was completed by substitute Tol Omotola whose low shot from outside the penalty area took a slight deflection as it arrowed into the net.

CORBY TOWN:- Dan George; Jamie Anton, Sam Warburton; Greg Ling, Delroy Gordon, Gary Mulligan (captain), Jordan Francis, Connor Kennedy, Elliot Sandy (substitute Ashley Robinson), Ben Bradshaw (substitute Tol Omotola), Jordon Crawford (substitute Dennis Nkrumah).
