Ladies continue fine form against Croyland Park Rangers.

Corby Town Ladies v Wellingborough Croyland Park Rangers

With Steel Park and the Cage out of action due to the weather our steelwomen agreed to reverse the fixture in order to get today’s game on. Momentum is a key ingredient of keeping that confidence high and that showed in today’s performance.

First half our steelwomen were excellent, their shape and desire was there for all to see and were ahead after 2 minutes with a rocket 30 yard shot from Tinto straight into the top corner. This was a sign of things to come in the first half and our steelwomen were relentless with shots hitting the post from Amy and crossbar from Lowden and Claire. A second goal for Corby and a cool finish by Taylor to score the first of her hatrick and shortly followed up with a second for Taylor an excellent top corner half volley and finally a 4th before half time another rocket this time from Hannah. Anyone would have thought this game was dead and buried at half time, without a shot at goal and rarely getting out their half our steelwomen piled the pressure on all half.

2nd half started and fair play to Croyland they gave it a go and after moving some of their players about during the break found a bit of renewed vigour and got through on 2 occasions and took both goals in the first 10 minutes of the half. This was the wake up our steelwomen needed. Now we were in a game and fair play to our steelwomen they stepped back up to take over control. Then a penalty to Corby to try and extend our lead and was calmly slotted home by Tinto for her second and followed with the 3rd of the match for Taylor to get her hatrick and make it 6. In the final 10 mins of the match a wicked cross that may have been going in by Beth and was forced home for an OG. (Although Beth will claim she deserves the goal as it may have been goal bound). This topped off a fine performance on what was in all honesty a difficult pitch to play our usual passing game on. But a well deserved victory that keeps that pressure on at the top. Special mentions to Taylor who was relentless today and a constant thorn in Croylands side and thoroughly deserved POM not just for the hatrick but her all round performance. And to Amy, Beth and Megan who ran Croyland ragged on the wings today and to Mackenzie who was tasked in getting forward more and certainly helped in the attacking department today.

Excellent result steelwomen, we do need to ensure we stay focused for the full 90+ minute's. Something to work on!!
