On 1st June 2018, Corby Town Football Club announced the appointment of George Joyce as the new manager of the Corby Town Ladies.

Joyce has extensive experience of female football and has overseen successful spells at Northampton Town, Burton Albion and Blisworth resulting in league titles as well as county and league cup successes. Joyce hopes to continue this success with the Corby Town Ladies by building a winning side with an attractive brand of football.

Joyce is excited for the season ahead and said that, “Corby Town is the best fit for me, they have similar ambitions on what I want to do and achieve. I knew a few of the players before and look forward to bringing in some new faces and putting my own stamp on things”.

Joyce has confirmed that the league is the priority but successful runs in cup competitions are also important, “The main aim is to finish above what we did last season, aim for that top three or four but take it game by game and see where we are at Christmas. Obviously, we have the cup competitions as well and it would be good to have a strong run in them”.

Corby Town First Team Manager Steven Kinniburgh describes Joyce’s appointment as “A massive step in the right direction not only for the ladies team but the football club as a whole. To be able to attract coaches like George to our football club shows we are doing a lot of good work on and off the pitch”.

Joyce will work alongside coaches JJ Sims and Nigel Lauder.

Corby Town Ladies kick off their East Midlands Women’s Regional Division 1 South league campaign at home to Joyce’s former side Northampton Town Ladies & Girls First on Sunday 9th September. The fixture will be played on Pitch 2 at Steel Park with a 2pm kick off.
