Welcome all,
This was the first game our girls would play in over six months, we played the game over 4 quarters, allowing the girls to adjust and loosen off any rust that may have built up over the past few months! A few nerves and uncertainties were soon forgotten about after a few minutes, with the girls feeling more at ease, they began to play their football. A smart tactical play between two of our girls led to the first quarter settled by a very composed finish, slotting the ball under the keeper.
For the remainder of the game our girls looked more like themselves. Playing some quick, intense football. The effort and joy was there to see, the girls were happy to be back out there having fun and playing footy!
As the minutes passed the girls started to create more space for each other on the pitch and our passes were finding their targets, the girls were building up their play well through to the final third and this created many chances for us.
There were many opportunities today that lead to our girls having a good shot on target and if it wasn’t for some excellent goalkeeping from the Thrapston town GK. There would certainly have been more goals.
A fantastic performance from our players today, strong defending when required, excellent work rate from all the girls and our superb running with the ball today led to us securing the win 3-1.
