On Saturday morning we held an in-house CPD with FA Mentor Chloe Brown. With the Youth Academy growing rapidly and getting stronger and stronger I’ve felt the time is now to implement the club philosophy and culture throughout all teams at Corby Town FC.

Over the last few months I’ve had many productive meeting with Mark Shackleton (Head of Youth) and Chloe Brown (FA Mentor) to discuss and establish a Player and coach culture as well as a player and coach pathway within the club. These meetings lead to us producing a template for all coaches to work from to help with their own personal development. Most coaches with the club set up are parents who are involved due to passion for football more so than looking for a career in coaching and understanding this we needed to have a support system in place were we have people in place to help when needed. If we can have all the thinking in a similar way at the club this is going to improve the players chances of improving and moving forward with the football club and that was the main message from Saturdays session.

We started the day with an introduction and then showed and discussed the new club culture and philosophy and opened this up to the thoughts of the coaches. The discussions and feedback was excellent with everyone understanding and more importantly buying into what we are trying to achieve. We then took the coaches out onto the pitch and demonstrated a few sessions implementing the training philosophy for the different age groups and again this was met with excitement from the coaches.

This was the first of many session we will be having with the coaches as we develop our structure at the club. Over time we will have a very similar structure to the professional clubs as I believe this is the way we need to be to become a more professional and organised club. We know at Corby Town that the likelihood of becoming a professional club is low but that doesn’t mean we cant still achieve greatness and the first step in doing this is getting the club structure right so everyone at the club understands their role.

Being the biggest football club in the town and one of the biggest clubs in the area we are committed to being the best we can be with a direct pathway from under 7's football all the way through to the first team on both the boys and girls sectors of the club. It is our commitment to the players to give them the best possible coaching we can by helping to develop both our coaches knowledge as well as our players ability.

The future is certainly bright at Corby Town Football Club and it’s an exciting time to be part of the club. Be part of it in whatever way you can and don’t let the moment pass you by.
