Corby, UK – 5 August 2024
The Board of Directors at Corby Town FC would like to extend heartfelt thanks to our devoted fans, dedicated players, hardworking staff, and enthusiastic volunteers for making Saturday's FA Cup tie a spectacular event. The game was a stellar showcase of non-league football, and as Manager Gary Setchell noted, “it had the intensity of a National League match”.
"We are thrilled to report that our attendance of 845 was the highest among Northern Premier League clubs at this stage of the Cup, possibly even the largest in the country," said Director James Longley. "Our players showed immense dedication, securing a dramatic equaliser in the 99th minute, epitomising the spirit and determination of Corby Town FC."
"We extend our sincere gratitude to our Matchday Sponsors, Prospect Facilities, and to Brian Dighton and friends for sponsoring the Match Ball," added Director Paul Glass.
We are confident in the squad Gary has built and are capable of taking on any team in our league. Looking ahead, we are gearing up for our next challenge against Rushden on Tuesday evening, aiming for a win that will secure an away tie in the next round at Newark and Sherwood. We then face a tough opening league game away at Hinckley LRFC on Saturday. Following this, our first home league game against Rugby Town is scheduled for Wednesday, 14th August.
This significant home game will be sponsored by Tata Steel to mark the 90th Anniversary Year of the founding of the Corby Plant and their long-standing association with The Steelmen. "We eagerly anticipate the continued support of our fans and look forward to seeing you at the match," commented Paul Glass.
