After back to back promotions, the Steelwomen have taken to the East Midlands Womens Regional Football League, Division 1 South like a duck to water.
Nine games into the season, the ladies sit 3rd in the table with 5 wins and 2 draws from their seven league games! Last week saw a 3-2 away win against unbeaten league leaders Northampton Town to take them to within 3 points of the top of the table, with a game in hand.
They have also had success in the league cup, a first round win over first division north side Draycott Victoria LFC was followed up with a 2-1 away win at premier division Kettering Town! This has set up a quater-final tie with another premier division side Eastwood Ladies CFC, the tie to be played at Steel Park on 25th February.
This weekend, the ladies face a tough task against Peterborough United. The posh ladies are currently unbeaten, with 5 wins and a draw from the 6 league games, and currently sitting 1 point and 1 place below Corby! The only down point in the season came 2 weeks ago, going down 5-4 on penalties against premier division league leaders Nettleham Ladies FC.
Peterborough Ladies finished last season in 2nd place, two points behind the eventual winners Leicester City Women Development, and the only defeat of the campaign came against the champions!
With a tough match on the horizon, your support is much appreciated. The match will be played at Steel Park, Sunday 12th November, 2pm kick off.
