It is a battle of two unbeaten teams this Saturday as Corby Town take on AFC Dunstable at Steel Park!
It was a busy bank holiday weekend, first of all the Steelmen took on Holbeach United in the Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round.
Goals from Diggin(2) Elliot Sandy and a goal of the season contender from Jake Duffy (this has to be seen to be believed) sealed a comfortable 4-0 victory over our UCL opposition. Corby will travel to Colney Heath in the First Qualifying Round!
On Bank Holiday Monday, it was a trip to local rivals Bedford. After our 5-3 win in the play off semi final in May, revenge was on the minds of the eagles, with Corby hoping to keep up there fine unbeaten record against the hosts. Bedford had managed just one draw in the last 10 years against Corby!
In 30 degree plus heat at The Eyrie, Corby raced into a two goal lead, strikes from Joe Burgess and Jordon Crawford giving them the half time lead.
The eagles made a change at the break and it was an inspired substituion, Tre Mitford scoring a brace to level the game and leave both sides having to be content with one point!
Opposition
AFC Dunstable come into this match in fine form, 3 wins out of 3 leaving The OD's top of the table by 2 points. They also have an FA Cup replay to look forward to next week having drew 0-0 with Hayes & Yeading of the league above, having won the Isthmian League South Central Division last campaign!
LAST TIME WE MET
Last season saw a pair of 2-1 home wins! 364 days before this fixture, AFC Dunstable headed to Steel Park like they do this year, on the back of a 0-0 home draw in the Emirates FA Cup. A dominant performance from Corby counted for nothing at half time as Nathan Frater struck for the visitors. But 2nd half goals from Jakes Bettles and a penalty from Elliot Sandy made sure all 3 points stayed at Steel Park!
The return fixture at Creasey Park in April saw the hosts get their revenge. Fryer gave the hosts the lead before Sandy brought the two sides level. From then on in it look like the Steelmen would get over the line like they did at Steel Park, but substitute Kyle Ajayi struck a late winner for The OD's
