Steelmen make their way to the Final of the Hillier Cup
Corby starting with the intention of making the most of the situation of having a semi final kick off at Steel Park. There were a couple of decent moves, but it was a Danny Gordon free kick, struck with some power that gave the Steelmen a corner kick that Danny Gordon took and scored directly from the dead ball kick. 1 nil was the score line at the break.
The second half continued at the same pace, and it was 2 nil on 55 minutes, a dreadful pass from a Sports defender was sent to the foot of Spencer Edwards who had time to find his spot, the same player, who came on as a sub, replacing Jordan O’Brien in the first half, scored a second with a nicely weighted lob over the keeper.
Sports used their subs to make a dent in the score line, but it wasn’t happening and ended a tad scrappy, but Corby had done all the hard work and will take place in the Hillier Cup final its expected in April. The other semi final takes place on March 18th between AFC Rushden & Diamonds v Northampton Town U23s.
