Welcome to Steel Park, Ray Warburton

Gary Setchell has added to his backroom staff for the upcoming season with the appointment of the vastly experienced Ray Warburton.

Ray has recently been coaching at Northampton Town alongside John Brady, a manager he also assisted at Brackley Town.

As a player, Warburton captained The Cobblers to Division 3 play off success at Wembley in 1997 and made 169 football league appearances before joining local rivals Rushden & Diamonds.

With The Diamonds, Warburton captained a team containing Gary Setchell to the Conference title in 2001. After featuring for them in the football league, Ray moved to Boston United on loan for the 2001-02, where he again won promotion from the top division in non league up to the football league.

Ray eventually left Diamonds to join Aldersot, and in his first season helped the shots to the Isthmian League Premier Division Title, and promotion to the Football Conference.

Warburton has been seen many times recently on the terraces at Steel Park supporting his son Sam and we are delighted that he will be joining the backroom staff for the upcoming season.

We caught up with Gary earlier this week: "I am chuffed to have Ray join my backroom team. Me and Ray go way back to our time together with Rushden and Diamonds where we got promoted to the Football League and you could see back then that he had leadership qualities that would suit him when his playing days came to an end.

To captain a team to play off success at Wembley shows the quality of the man and I look forward to having him on this next journey at Corby"
