Corby Town showed their attacking intent within 1 second of kick off, Connor Kennedy taking aim from the half way line that the hosts keeper only just managed to palm away from goal!

Whitworths were enjoying plenty of the ball in the early stages with Corby sloppy in possesion, but the visitors opened the scoring after 17 minutes, Dennis Nkrumah winning the ball in the middle of the pitch before breezing past 3 defenders and knocking the ball through the keepers legs and running onto the nutmeg to knock into an empty net.

The remainder of the first half was played at a very conservative pace, Corby never looking in danger but struggling to get a grip of the game.

Joel Carta was introduced at half time and had an immediate impact. It was his through ball to Jake Bettles that led to the 2nd goal of the game, Bettles composing himself inside the area before rolling the ball beneath the keeper.

Corby had a few chances from range, something we are becoming accustomed to with such a confident side out on the pitch, and it was one of these efforts that brought up the 3rd.

Joel Carta found space and took aim from range to send the ball into the bottom corner. Another great goal from Joel who seems to be trying to take all the slots in the end of season goal of the season vote!

It was a workman like performance from the Steelmen following 9 changes to Saturdays starting line up and in the closing stages, Dan Smith made a great save, diving to his left to keep out a powerful shot and preserve his clean sheet.

The Steelmen now roll on to FA Cup duty on Saturday when we visit Alvechurch FC in the 2nd qualifying round!
