Biography

Corby Town’s latest signing is 20-year-old striker Sam Grouse who arrived at Steel Park from AFC Stamford this week. Sam first came to prominence with Oadby Owls in his native Leicestershire and during the 2015/16 season his club form was rewarded with a call-up to the England Under-18 schoolboys squad. In April, 2016 he scored for England’s youngsters in a 2-2 draw with the Republic of Ireland which saw then lift the Inspiresport Centenary Shield.
With his star very much on the rise Sam signed for Mansfield Town in the summer of 2016 and he made his debut for the Stags’ Under-21 team in a friendly against the Nike Academy in September, 2016.
Later that season Sam moved on to Barwell and in February, 2017 he joined Gresley FC. He made seven appearances for them during the remainder of 2016/17 before signing for Harrowby United in July, 2017. In 2017/18 he played alongside Joel Carta for Harrowby and scored a total of 40 goals in as many games for the Arrows.
Steelmen supporters who attended our opening pre-season game at Stamford in July will probably recall the Daniels’ excellent late goal in that game. Well, the scorer of that long range effort was none other than Sam Grouse.
Sam played a prominent part in Stamford’s pre-season programme and started the opening two goals of their league campaign. Since then, however, he has been mainly confined to a place on the bench by Graham Drury.
