An evenly contested first half saw the Steelwomen break the deadlock on the 31st minute. Gabby Maia the scorer with a well-executed lob following a period of intensive forward pressing by Corby. Deanshanger replied with a deserved goal of their own on the 44th minute to send the sides in even on the half time whistle.
The Steelwomen stepped up a gear in the second half and were denied by 2 goal line clearances before regaining the lead on the 57th minute as Becks Jones headed home from a corner. Kimberley Sadler added a third for Corby on the 73rd minute before combining well with Abi Wisker down the right wing to become provider for Mollie Marshall to fire in a late fourth goal of the afternoon for Corby.
The Steelwomen will head into their first competitive fixture of the 2018/19 season next Sunday as they travel to St Ives Town in the preliminary round of the SSE Women’s FA Cup. The victors will play at home to Peterborough United in the next round.
