Today our ladies took on Rushden FC Ladies in a pre season friendly.

It took a while for our ladies to get going and with the heat and new members of the team it took a little while for the team to settle and gel.

However we were starting to play some great football. Then a disaster for Corby the keeper in an accidental collision and smashed nose and had to be replaced. We wish a speedy recovery to our goalkeeper Shannon and hope to see her back playing soon.

After this break Corby took the lead on the 25th minute mark with a great through ball for Andrea to pounce on and run free of the Rushden defence to slot calmly home. Shortly afterwards Corby made it 2-0 with a great ball to the wing for Maddie to use her trickery and get free and to fire home. Then a wonder shot from Rushden that although the keeper got hands to just couldn’t keep it out. This spurred our team on further and before half time Andrea got another and Tinto with a close range rocket to end the half 4-1 up.

Second half was very much as the first ended. Corby had a lot of pressure and were moving the ball around nicely and then 5 for Corby as Megan scored from the wide position in at the near post. The game ended 5-1 to Corby. A good display of football where we really did do well to control the game with some excellent passing moves and considering the amount of new members to the team they really slotted in well today. POM was Megan G for her midfield display, today we could see how accomplished on the ball she is and she will be a great asset to the team for the season ahead.
