Corby Town Ladies & Girls U10's perfect performance

Corby Town U10’s played away to Green Towers U10’s in a friendly today and agreed to play 4x10 minute periods.

We agreed to play this friendly as Green Towers U10’s are also a new team and we thought this to be a good test on seeing our girls development so far.

Where do we start with the game apart from stating WOW what a performance.
Usually we do not post scores for this age group, however today the girls warranted a score line being shown.

The girls very quickly got to grips with the game and dominated the first period and before the end of the first 10 minute period were 3-0 up with a Hat Trick from Mullan.

Due to the nature of how we were playing, the intensity, the drive and our domination of the ball all over the field we agreed to change things and try players in different positions. This level is all about development not just for our girls but for out opposition so we changed it as to not demoralise our opposition and especially to girls who are new to the game.

After the changes and during the next period we managed to still nullify any threat from Green Towers and Johnson playing her first game in goal had very little to do in the first 2 periods. We decided to changed it up again and Taylor took over in goals. We also decided to change our defence and we allowed Brookes our central defender to become an attacker who in the 3rd period then scored 2 fine goals and was close to getting her hat trick.

Final period we changed again Boath took over the gloves. We did a this point start to allow Green Towers into the game, as at this point no one was playing in their preferred positions and Green Towers deservedly got 2 goals back.

However final score was 5-2 to Corby Town U10’s. The score line could have been so much more and the girls fully deserved the victory.

Was great to see them expressing themselves, was good to see the girls trying new things and even an audacious free kick set play where the girls made up their own routine. Most pleasing was their desire; desire to win the ball back and their desire to have fun and work for each other.

Well done girls keep it up we are so proud and impressed at how quickly you are developing.
