Corby Town Girls U10's continued their winning form with a great result at home to Mawsley Girls U10.
It was a great start of the year for the girls. You would never had thought that the team hadn’t played in a number of weeks.
The girls seemed ready and raring to go and from the first whistle and they gave it their all for the full game.
Their pressing display and desire to win the ball back was excellent to see and it was great to see the girls creating some excellent passing moves whilst moving up and down the pitch.
Corby Town U10's fully deserved the 3-0 lead at half time and it could so easily have been more with a bit more composure and better decision making in the final third, but you can not take away how excellent they played in the first half. They never gave Mawsley a sniff and were both quick and aggressive in their desire to win the ball back. Their defending was resolute in the first half with the Corby keeper only being needed once.
Surely Mawsley would be a different outfit after half time and although you could see Corby relax a little although Corby still got a 4th goal before any reply they did then allow Mawsley back in the game to score. It was the wake up they needed and the girls again rallied with some excellent defending and goalkeeping in the second half. They were very unlucky not to add a couple more and especially for MJ who did snatch at a couple shots, but you can see the goals will come in the near future for MJ.
Special mentions to Eden who scored her first goal for the team and club and played excellently on that left wing with making some excellent darting runs down the wing, to Cayla who has now been nicknamed the silent assassin from the club, went about her work excellently and always seems to be in the right place at the right time and was again on the score sheet, to Millie M who was unlucky not to get the hat trick, to Rose who did excellent in goal again and to Millie B who took on the captains role today and was not only an excellent captain but had great influence on the game with her defensive and forward work.
Every girl played their part in what was an excellent display of football!!
Well done to Corby steelgirls U10's fully deserved the 4-1 win.
POM Millie B
