U10's Steelgirls show some steel to remain unbeaten in 2020

Corby Town U10’s played away to Mawsley U10’s on Saturday 25th January.

We saw what real metal, steel and desire to win a game is all about. The Corby Town U10 girls today showed that they are able to win a game not just through playing fancy football but also through grinding out results.

It wasn’t the free flowing team we have seen in recent weeks, but the team showed today a different side and especially in their mentality and desire to win a match.

Corby Town Girls u10's in the first half came out of the blocks quickly and pressured Mawsley in the first half and took a well deserved 2-0 lead into the break. Their constant pressure was a joy to behold with very little coming back the other way. The team did struggle with Mawsley’s positioning at times and with Mawsley also being a new team, Corby had a tendency to follow players instead of making their own space which limited their scoring opportunities. We need to remember how long Corby Town Girls u10's have been together, it has only been 6 months and their progression in this time has been astounding. You can see there is much much more to come and this group of girls are destined for good things in the future.

Was great to see Gracie back after a few weeks out and great to see Amileigh in goal and also giving it her all.

Mawsley came back at Corby Town u10's in the second half and although that gave Corby some space they could have had a hat full of goals in the second half. The Mawsley keeper was by far the player of the match in the second half and played amazing to keep Corby at bay. Mawsley did however eventually score in the second half, however Corby girls dug in, defended and attacked excellently to try and extend the lead further and to keep Mawsley from getting anything from the game.

Player of the match was Lottie who today showed that she is not just an excellent defender but also a force going forward. When out of position her work rate to get back and support was superb and fully deserved the award.

As a club we couldn’t be prouder of the mentality and steel they showed today. Today they showed you can also win a game through heart, desire and hard work.

Well done girls.
Final Score: 2-1 to Corby
