Corby Town U10's Back To Winning Ways In Style against Rushden & Diamonds U10's

Corby Town Girls U10's got back to winning ways in style today after playing arguably the most formidable side in the league Rushden & Diamonds.

R&D are one of the best rated teams within the league and have on 3 occasions playing Corby beaten them. 1st was in only our u10's second game and were easily beaten on that occasion, 2nd in a friendly where the game was much more evenly matched and also beating them in a narrow futsal competition although Corby were the better team. So the team new that they wanted some payback today and they did it in style, all girls were up for what was going to be a closely matched encounter and every girls played their part in a great game of cat and mouse football.

The 1st half was very much a battle of the midfield and both teams went into the break goalless, however we have to commend the great football played by Corby and were very unlucky not to be in the lead at the break. The defensive display was a master class the awareness of the defence and defensive midfield players was a joy to watch and it is a great watch to see 2 very young players in such tandem with each other. Corby managed for the most part of the first half to keep the shots to a minimum whilst attacking themselves and showing some great attacking team football.

The second half started very much the same, however with some fancy footwork and some great interplay with the midfield and attack Corby got their noses in front. The lead wasn't to last very long and R&D went all out attack with having 3 of their 6 outfield players playing in forward positions this initially paid off for R&D in getting the goal and putting the tie level.

However Corby were not finished yet and managed to find the holes that the R&D team left whilst attacking and got that all important second goal. The team work and effort from every player today was excellent to see, what they have been working on in training over the last few weeks all came together. R&D tried to come at Corby towards the end, however Corby stood strong and played some excellent counter attacking football. Considering this team has been together for 6 months, from their 2nd game against R&D to today we have seen an amazing transformation and development, when your opposition management team say that they can not believe how far we have come is testament to the hard work the girls put into their development.

Every player today done what they were tasked with, our defence in man marking R&D strongest players, our attacking wingers were on fie form, centre midfielders creating darting runs and hitting the ball out wide to open up the defence and our attacking options through Millie who deserved her 2 goals today and was resolute in defending from the front and attacking through slick passing and direct football when needed.

Player of the match went to Lottie who today was outstanding in defence, but in truth the whole team today deserved the credit for an excellent team performance. Well done girls today you showed one of the nest teams in our league that you are now just as good and within only 6 months of training and development.

Final Score: Corby Town U10's 2 - 1 Rushden & Diamonds U10's
