Corby Town U10's Lose to Crick In a Close Encounter

Corby Town U10's again played some exciting and fantastic football against Crick, but unfortunately had their first loss of the calendar year. In the first half the girls were well on top throughout the whole half and they really used the wind to their advantage. Unfortunately they were unable to make the breakthrough and both teams went in at the break all square.

Corby really struggled with the wind in the second half and Crick took advantage, Crick came on strong and threatened on a number of occasions as did Corby. It was a real ding dong battle and could have gone either way. There were some excellent slick passing moves by Corby and for a group of young girls some of their moves were fantastic and Crick really struggled to cope. With some composure in front of goal they could so easily have taken the lead.

However the deadlock was broken late in the second half when an unfortunate penalty was awarded to Crick and Crick took full advantage, it was the right decision however the girls win and lose as a team and it was great to see that the girls picked themselves up and were again so unlucky not to draw it level.

When this team keeps it shape and when they use the wing they are amazing and no team so far has been able to handle their slick passing moves and their ability to turn defence into attack in a split second. This team will grow and grow.

Special mention to Rose who played in goal for the full game and was outstanding she made a couple of crucial saves to keep the team in the game and at crucial times in the match. Also special mention to Tillie who played in her first competitive match, Tillie has already shown in training and now in her first game that she has the ability to play anywhere on the park. She was outstanding in both defence and midfield and fully deserved player of the match.

Unlucky girls - may not have been your day today, keep plugging away it is great to see your development.
