Food for thought!!

Tonight our U11’s played a very organised Rushden & Diamonds Team.

We went into tonight’s match looking at changing a few positions and in particular the midfield and striker positions.

We tried a few players in those positions tonight to aid there development and for us as a team to ideally give each player the ability to play in more than 1 position.

Overall it was a very gritty performance. Defensively we pressed really well, we passed the ball at times excellently and got ourselves into some excellent shooting positions.

Although we did lose our shape a fair few times. This was fully expected due to girls being put into positions they are not use to. We did see a couple of outstanding performances and a few world class saves.

We will continue to look at these positions and what is more pleasing is that the girls were still smiling at full time.

Tonight’s game has given us some food for thought which is what it’s all about at this age.

All we asked today was that they give it their all and when trying to do different things against a team such as R&D it was always going to be difficult. However, challenging the girls in such a game aids there development and confidence in those positions. We have to remind ourselves that this year is about development and girls cementing there positions for next season. So to only concede 2 goals from Rushden and a Worldy own goal we can’t complain too much.

Especially as we did get ourselves in some great shooting positions and at times when we relaxed and lifted our heads we showed that we can pass the ball really well. So the score line could have been very different.

We go again on Sunday and again will try girls in different positions.

For those not at the game it finished 3-0 to Rushden & Diamonds.

Player of the match was Rose.

Proud of the commitment, spirit and teamwork these girls are showing.

Cheers.
