U11's Sign of Pre Season with a win

Today Corby Town U11's played Market Deeping U11's an unknown for Corby as they played another team outside of Northamptonshire.

The game started brightly with Corby going out on the attack, however the first shot in anger was from Market Deeping, today we had Tillie in goal who proved to be an excellent understudy and made a few 1-1 saves as Market Deeping jumped on some of Corby's defensive errors. Corby still continued to attack and showed some excellent attacking threat in the first half with some excellent displays in passing, moving and in their decision making. Both Skye and Lily-mai managed to net in the first half and with a great assist from Tillie Corby went into the Half time with a 2-0 advantage.

The second half went very much the same as the first, today we saw Corby play some of its best football this pre season, they were a constant threat and were unlucky on a number of occasions to not extend the lead, through a lapse of concentration, Market Deeping managed to wriggle through the Corby Defence and pull it back to 2-1, this spurred the girls on again and they moved up another gear to make it 3-1 with another goal from Lilly-Mai. The game seem to be won, however full credit to Market Deeping, they battled all game. There were possibly a couple of errors made with a Penalty for a Handball in the Market Deeping penalty area not given and then within the final minutes the ball from the goal kick found a Market Deeping player who hadn't retreated to the half way line and calmly slotted the ball away to make it 3-2.

There were some outstanding displays today and in particular, Tillie, Skye, Layla and Lily-Mai, all could have been player of the match today, however that mantle went to Lilly-Mai who today, showed how to both finish, press and defend from the front.

Well done girls, we go again next week with our first league game.
