Corby Town Girls U11's start campaign with a fine win and performance

Today our U11’s played at home to Daventry Town U11’s in our first league match of the season.

First of all want to thank everyone for braving the elements in what was a wet and windy day. Was definitely the worst weather we have played in.

Our training and the hard games we have played in pre season really showed today in our performance. Some of the best football the team has ever played. Our passing, our driving forward and defending was a pleasure to behold today. It all came together brilliantly.

Every girl listened to their instructions and all played there part today with what was an excellent team performance.

Daventry set themselves up well and with being a relatively new team defended excellently. First half was all Corby Town pressure however the Daventry goalkeeper kept Corby out with some excellent handling. The Corby keeper was almost undone with a Daventry attack but fortunately the ball hit the post. And the half finished 0-0.

Second half was very much the same with Daventry defending and trying to catch us on the break. Finally it came for Corby with Tillie scoring a goal that evaded the Daventry keeper and crept over the line. This spurred the Corby team on and another one was scored with some excellent play down the wings and with an excellent cross for Layla to bury. Our final goal was again down the left wing and with a bit of pinball in the Daventry box Cayla pounced and scored our 3rd.

They all deserve a well earned hot chocolate, with what was an excellent team effort.

Player of the match was the team as was a great team effort. However for the league we have to give a person and I have chosen Tillie who not only scored but her driving forward her passing and closing down helped us stay up the pitch. ?

Well done all in a fine win.
