Today our U11’s continued with their perfect start to the league by making 3 wins in 3 against Roade Revolution.
Today’s game was to be a scrappy affair with the 1st half in particular where neither team in the first 15 minutes seem to grab control of the game. However Corby managed to take a 1-0 lead halfway through half. This spurred Roade on and they excellently exploited our errors to go into half time with a 2-1 lead.
After a little talk at half time the girls came out with more vigour and desire however road scored to make it 3-1 and then narrowly missed a penalty. This was the lifeline that Corby took and they then took control of the game through some excellent play they managed to bring the tie back to being level. And just as the game seemed to be heading for a draw the final move of the match. A penalty to Corby the pressure on the taker was big if they were to make it 3 for 3 and wow, the ball was calmly slotted away to make it the winning goal for Corby commiserations to Roade as this would have been a hard blow to take after holding the Corby team back with some excellent defending and keeping. However the girls grit and determination today earned them the win.
Some special mentions really well done to our defensive line Lottie and Tillie and also to both Lily-Mai and Millie who really linked up well. However player of the match went to Layla who today epitomised that desire to win through her excellent running of the wing and desire to get back to defend when defence was out of position.
A game that really had everything, such an exciting game, however don’t think the nerves could handle it again
Well done girls very proud of you again.
