Corby flew out of the traps like greyhounds at the final bell, swarming forward with purpose. The pitch was hard, the ball skittish, but it was Corby who found their rhythm first. Nine minutes in, the dynamic duo of Lilly-Ella and Lilly-Mai combined, with Lilly-Mai firing Corby into a precious lead.
An onslaught looked to be on the cards. Six minutes later, Iris curled a teasing corner, and there was Freya who leaped above the crowd to nod home the ball home with grace. Moments later, Lauren, dubbed the "Corby Cafu", threaded a ball of such precision through to Leila, who waltzed and whirled past defenders before slotting home. 3-0! The champagne was being uncorked already.
It was a flood now, not a trickle. Lauren again, sending Lilly-Ella galloping through to make it four. Then Lilly-Mai lashed a rocket towards goal, denied only by a stunning save. But she would not be denied twice, linking with Skye and hammering home the fifth before the half-hour. Kingsthorpe tried in vain to rally, but Isabelle and Chloe, lions at the back, repelled everything. Half-time: 5-0, and Corby with one hand on the trophy.
Kingsthorpe threatened briefly after the break, but nothing that troubled Poppy. Then Corby lit the fuse again, Keeley racing down the left, crossing for Leila to scoop home a sixth. The straight from the restart, Skye quickly regained possession and unleashed Lilly-Ella, who lifted a lob, fireball! 7-0 Corby!
Erin forced another fine save, but it was inevitable: Lauren, the architect once more slipped Erin through to slam in the eighth. Then came the hat-trick heroics, Leila, gliding past three defenders and finishing with ice-cold composure, bagging her 24th of a glittering season.
Just when you thought the curtain was closing, Freya, set up by Leila, turned a defender inside out and lashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner. Ten goals, each a masterpiece.
The whistle blew and bedlam began! Champagne sprayed, pyros lit the sky, and the Corby girls roared in triumph. Corby Town champions of the Bedfordshire U15 Division 2!
