Kingsthorpe Jets Prodigy U13’s v Corby Town FC U13 Lionesses.

Our Lionesses were back in league action today with an away fixture at Kingsthorpe Jets. Although the girls started well, Kingsthorpe had the early pressure and Corby seemed to still be trying to find their feet. After 7 minutes the deadlock was broken and Kingsthorpe took the lead. This is what the game needed for our girls this spurred them into life and they started to take control of the half. With better finishing and decision making the girls could have easily been 4 or 5 up by half time. However some excellent goalkeeping, resolute defending, passing and counter attack play from our hosts our girls struggled to get that all important goal. It looked to be one of those games!!!

But 2nd half the girls went up another gear and some of the passing and decision making was excellent everyone played for each other found their space and supported our attacks. What was also pleasing today was to see that resolute defending and our midfield and wingers getting back to help and get our attacks underway. Finally Corby got that all important goal and took over the match with a great pass from Pixie with her back to goal for Layla M to slide home. We new this was the opening and the belief was back. Our lionesses flooded forward with wave after wave of attack. Fair play to our hosts they defended with their lives and threatened on the counter attack however we stood strong and got that all important 2nd goal. This took the wind out of hosts and Corby netted another 3 times and an own goal towards the end to make it 6. Player of the match was Pixie, her all round play today was excellent, spreading the ball to get us up the field driving forward scoring 2 and assisting in 3. Great forward play and a massive well done. Was one of her best performances.

An excellent win that has the lionesses unbeaten in 4 games. Well done girls great display of patience, determination and team work across the whole pitch today.
