Daventry Town U18s v Corby Town U18s
On a wet and heavy pitch the young Steelmen took to the pitch to try and get themselves into the next round of the FA Cup.
The game started in sloppy fashion with passes going astray from both teams who were both trying to find their feet with no real goal mouth action.
Then on 18 minutes captain Kyle Hutchinson was fouled on the edge of the area he dusted himself off to take the resulting free kick he hit a poor shot under the wall but it somehow squirmed through the keeper’s legs to make it Daventry 0 Corby Town 1
Daventry tried to put the set back behind them but there was no efforts on goal and the game remained a scrappy affair.
On 26 minutes Daventry equalised through a mix up between the Goalkeeper Stanley Roberts and defender Logan Hughes and Max Farah of Daventry nipped in to finish to make it Daventry 1 Corby 1.
The game still didn’t settle down until probably the best bit of football in the 38th minute was played when a lovely passing move was finished off by top goal scorer Tanaka Govha who took his tally to 6 goals for the season to make it Daventry 1 Corby 2

The second half started as the first had ended with Corby looking in control.
On 53 minutes Tanaka took a quick throw in to Kyle on the edge of the box slipped a lovely pass to Adelin Tomsa who twisted and turned to wriggle free a smash the ball into the back of the net Daventry 1 Corby 3
There was no real chances created with the odd shot coming from Corby who were in complete control until with a few minutes remaining a mis placed pass in the middle of the park allowed Daventry a rare attack only for a good tackle to give Daventry a corner and from the resulting corner a scramble occurred at the front post with the ball sneaking into the net from Max Farah Daventry were back in with a shout with 2 minutes remaining plus stoppage time were the referee found 8 minutes of added on time Daventry 2 Corby 3
The game fizzled out with no chances created in the remaining minutes to book the young Steelmen a place in the next round.
Not the best performance but a wins a win and it’s back to Steel Park for a top of the table clash against Peterborough United on Monday the 25th .
