STEELMEN WIN!!

O'BRIEN COMFORTABLY NETTED FROM THE SPOT

More than two months after their last win Corby Town finally tasted victory again at home to Coleshill Town. The visitors stood in seventh place in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Midland Division table and have aspirations of achieving a promotion play off place but were well beaten at Steel Park.
Gary Mills had the rare luxury of naming an unchanged starting XI while Sam Moore, scorer of two goals the last time the teams met, watched from the sidelines on this occasion.
In the Steelmen's first attack good play by Jordan O'Brien gave Elliot Sandy a clear sight of goal but his fierce shot was kept out by Paul Hathaway.
At the other end Kai Tonge then outpaced Gary Mulligan down Corby's left but Kamy Apindia Gille came to the rescue with a well timed tackle.
After fourteen minutes Corby's front two combined again and this time there was nothing Hathaway could do as Sandy turned provider and O'Brien's effort found the corner of the net. James Clifton had a free kick saved by the 'keeper at one end while at the other a Liam Molesworth chip landed on the roof of the net.
Early in the second half Sandy shot narrowly wide before Corby struck a quick fire double. In the 57th minute the Steelmen were awarded a penalty when a centre by Peter Abimbola was handled by Shay Palmer and O'Brien comfortably netted from the spot.
Five minutes later Corby increased their lead. A powerful run by Lewis White took him to the edge of the penalty area and he played the ball inside to O'Brien. His shot was straight at Hathaway but the ' keeper inexplicably spilled the ball and the predatory Sandy pounced to score a simple goal.
A few minutes later their was almost a repeat but on this occasion Hathaway managed to retrieve the ball as Sandy moved in for the kill.
As the game drew to a close it was all Corby as White shot into the side netting and Sandy and the impressive Abimbola both fired efforts off target.
