Corby Town Football Club Appoint Leon Mettam as Interim Manager

James McCafferty21 Dec 2025 - 20:05

Corby Town Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Leon Mettam as Interim Manager at Steel Park.

Mettam is fondly remembered by the Steelmen faithful, having begun his playing career at the club as a youngster, where he scored goals prolifically and was deservedly named Supporters’ Player of the Year at the end of the season.

Following his departure from Corby Town, Leon went on to play for a number of Step Two clubs before joining Frickley Athletic, where he took on the role of player/assistant manager. After leaving Frickley, he returned to playing at Wisbech Town, before stepping into the manager’s role just two weeks prior to the start of the season following the departure of the first-team manager.

Leon now returns to Steel Park eager to embrace the challenge ahead and believes he can help restore positivity and momentum at the club.

Speaking on his appointment, Mettam said:

“Corby Town and I go a long way back. I arrived here as a raw teenager looking for an opportunity and left as Supporters’ Player of the Year, which really kick-started my career.

When I became aware of this opportunity, a few conversations quickly made it clear that this was a chance I wanted to take — returning to the dugout at a well-established club with a fantastic fan base.

I’ve faced tough challenges before. My first management role saw me take a squad into a new season with just one player, and we still achieved a mid-table finish in a very competitive league.

I’m excited to get started. I know it won’t be easy, but there’s a real opportunity here to get the club back on track, build for the future and, in time, get Corby Town challenging again.”

Leon will be assisted by Danny Brooks and will take his place in the dugout for the first time on Boxing Day, away at Bourne Town.
