CHRIS DUNN

Date of Birth: 23/10/87. 6' 5" tall goalkeeper Chris was born at Havering and brought up in Brentwood. After spells in the youth set ups at West Ham United and Southend United he joined the Northampton Town centre of Excellence at the age of 17 in January 2005. After graduating to the reserve team Chris understudied Lee Harper and Mark Bunn before making his Football League debut in a 2-1 home win over Tranmere Rovers on the final day of the 2007/08 season. He took over as regular first choice for 2008/09 and in September 2010 he played in Northampton's penalty shoot-out victory over Liverpool at Anfield in the Carling Cup. He went on to make 110 first team appearances for the Cobblers before moving on to Coventry City for an undisclosed fee in June 2011.
Chris spent two years as understudy to Joe Murphy with the Sky Blues - making six appearances - before having his contract cancelled by "mutual consent" in August 2013. He then signed for Yeovil Town but made just eight first team appearances during a single season with them.
In June 2014 Chris joined Cambridge United. He made 51 appearances during 2014/15 and played against Manchester United in the Fourth Round of the F.A Cup. His outstanding saves from Falcao and Di Maria went a long way towards enabling Cambridge to earn a goalless draw at the Abbey Stadium before losing 3-0 at Old Trafford in the replay.
Chris played thirteen times in 2015/16 before moving on to Wrexham as a player and goalkeeper coach in July 2016. He made 55 appearances for Wrexham before being released in May 2018. The following month he joined Walsall but played just nine times in the first team in a single season with them.
He joined Maidenhead United for 2019/20 and made 21 appearances before the season was cut short by the Covid-19 virus.
Chris signed for Corby Town last week to cover for the injured Craig Hill and kept a clean sheet on his debut in our 1-0 win over Halesowen Town at the weekend. We welcome him to Steel Park and wish him a happy 33rd birthday for Friday.
