New Signings Announced

James McCafferty8 Jan - 16:00

Welcome to Steel Park

After a busy and productive few weeks behind the scenes, Corby Town Football Club are delighted to announce a number of new additions to the squad as we strengthen heading into the next phase of the season. These signings add quality, depth, and competition across the pitch, and we’re excited to welcome each of them to Steel Park.

Theo Avery

The Steelmen have secured the services of promising young goalkeeper Theo Avery, who joins on an initial one-month loan from Northampton Town. Theo spent last season with Nottingham Forest before making the move to Sixfields in the summer. A confident and athletic shot-stopper, Theo arrives eager to gain senior experience and add further strength to our goalkeeping department.

Fran Obiagwu

Joining us on a work experience loan from Northampton Town, Fran Obiagwu is an exciting young striker with huge potential. Fran made history last season by becoming the youngest player ever to feature for Northampton Town in an EFL fixture. He also featured against the Steelmen in last season’s Northants FA Hillier Senior Cup Final and gained valuable experience at Step 4 with Wellingborough Town. His pace and eye for goal add another attacking dimension to the squad.

Sam Warburton

Our third loan signing is commanding centre-back Sam Warburton, who joins from Boston United. Sam has already featured twice for the Steelmen and has quickly shown his defensive presence and leadership qualities. He began the campaign with Grantham Town after a summer spell at Step 3 side Quorn, before being snapped up by The Pilgrims. Sam brings physicality and composure to the heart of the defence.

Brad Gothard

Brad Gothard joined the club from St Neots Town and made his Steelmen debut from the bench on New Year’s Day. Brad was part of the Bourne Town side that earned promotion to Step 4 last season before signing for Welwyn Garden City in the summer. He later moved to St Neots Town and now arrives at Corby looking to make a real impact going forward.

Matteo Perkins

We are delighted to confirm the signing of attacking player Matteo Perkins. Matteo brings plenty of non-league experience, having featured for Eynesbury Rovers, St Neots Town, Wisbech Town, Yaxley, and Newark Town at Step 5, as well as a stint with Shepshed Dynamo last season. His versatility and attacking flair will give the squad additional options in the final third.

James Matthews

Hard-working central midfielder James Matthews joins the Steelmen from AFC Mansfield, having also spent time with Mickleover FC earlier this season. James has previously represented Carlton Town, Frickley Athletic, Sherwood Colliery, and Hallam. Away from football, he is also an accomplished triathlete and Ironman competitor at national and international level — a testament to his fitness, determination, and mentality.

Abdul Koroma

A familiar face returns to Steel Park as Abdul Koroma rejoins the club after a spell away from the game. Abdul originally signed for the Steelmen following spells with Shepshed Dynamo and Spalding United, before returning to Shepshed and later featuring for AFC Rushden & Diamonds. He linked back up with Corby Town on Boxing Day and brings experience, energy, and a strong connection to the club.

Cenk Acar

Attacker Cenk Acar joins the Steelmen from Skegness Town. A Lincoln City youngster, Cenk featured in Step 4 for Spalding United and Wisbech Town before featuring for Skegness Town & Lincoln United.

We are delighted to welcome all of our new signings to Corby Town Football Club and look forward to seeing them pull on the black and white in the weeks ahead. Please join us in giving them a warm Steelmen welcome as we continue to push forward together.
