Summary

Corby Town Football Club are seeking an enthusiastic, hardworking and committed individual to work with the clubs Men’s 1st Team medical department. The position is a paid part-time position and will be responsible for providing medical coverage for the Men’s First Team. The Men’s First Team currently play in the Northern Premier League – Midlands Division, which is Step 4 of the non-league pyramid. In addition, the team also compete in Football Association (FA) competitions such as the FA Cup and FA Trophy, as well as the Northamptonshire FA Hillier Senior Cup.

The Men’s 1st Team Physiotherapist/Sports Therapist will work alongside the manager and coaching team to diagnose, treat and rehabilitate injured players. The role will also include providing pitch side treatments during the teams’ fixtures.

Objective of the role

  • Attending all training sessions and games during pre-season and normal season.
  • Soft tissue management and treatment as part of pre-training and pre-match preparation (such as strapping and massage) as well as other modalities.
  • Assessing and treating injuries which occur during training sessions and matches.
  • Managing injured players through their rehabilitation and return to play programs.
  • Keeping accurate and up to date medical notes; and keeping a regular and current CPD portfolio.
  • Assisting in the production and maintenance of emergency action plans and department procedure documents
  • Ensuring good communication pathways with all management and coaching staff regarding player availability and optimal training strategies for players you are responsible for.
  • To abide by all club policies including (but not exclusive to) Safeguarding, Equality and Health & Safety
  • The monitoring, maintaining and ordering of medical supplies, through collaboration with the club’s secretary.

Person Specification

Essentials:

  • Have a physiotherapy, sports therapy or sport rehabilitation qualification, which can be from Universities or Professional awarding bodies such as VTCT, Sports Therapy UK, the Sport Therapy Organisation (STO) or other industry relevant organisations.
  • Holds a relevant and valid Football Association (FA) First Aid qualification or willing to work towards The FA Level 3 Emergency Medical First Aid in Football (EMFAiF).
  • Be able to complete and achieve an enhanced DBS checks & status undertaken by The Football Association.
  • Full UK Driving license.
  • An excellent communicator, presents professionally and has good interpersonal skills
  • Willing to be ‘hands on’ and brings a positive ‘can do’ attitude
  • Good work ethic
  • Understands the flexible work nature of the industry
  • Able to work in a team
  • Be agile and able to adapt to different and changing situations
  • Have the drive and enthusiasm to set high standards and achieve team objectives

Desirables:

  • Hold a BSc/MSc in a relevant field (physiotherapy, sport rehabilitation, or sport therapy) and hold a current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Has gained experience of previously working within semi-professional or professional football club environments in a similar role.
  • Full membership with the HCPC or Society of Sports Therapists or alternate appropriate registered body with accompanying insurance
